2008 GEORGIA DIVISION SCV NEWSLETTER AWARD
GEORGIA DIVISION SCV LICENSE PLATE FUNDS

THANK YOU!

The Major General Ambrose Ransom Wright Camp #1914 would like to express appreciation to everyone for their support in paying off the debt on the Columbia County Confederate monument. At our July meeting, to a great cheer from our membership, Camp Commander John Partridge ceremoniously shredded the bank note. We especially want to thank those delegates at the Georgia SCV annual convention that voted to allocate license plate funds to our cause. But we also want to remember the other SCV camps that liberally shared and those kind individuals that gave so generously. On behalf of the Columbia County Confederate Veterans and the Major General Ambrose Ransom Wright Camp 1914, THANK YOU ALL!

2009 - COMPATRIOT DAVID BUTLER

During the awards ceremony at the Georgia Division Annual Convention, camp adjutant David Butler received the Lieutenant Commander’s Award for significant contributions to the Sons of Confederate Veterans. The award specifically recognized David’s recent book on county veteran’s gravesites. This is a wonderful recognition of David’s great work in remembering our ancestors.

But, did you know? Compatriot Butler is a charter member of Camp #1914. He has served three terms as camp commander. Butler wrote the camp newsletter for two years and created the camp’s first website. He is currently the Camp adjutant; this is perhaps the most significant, difficult and time consuming job of all.

David has published one book about Confederate heritage and is currently working on another on the Pettus Volunteers. David has spoken at many SCV and UDC ceremonies or meetings. He actively participates in all camp functions. David is “living the charge”.
